As part of the Women’s Day celebration, a young woman from Kliptown, Precious Sibeko (28) will be running a women players tournament, with the theme, ‘Fight against women and children abuse’.

Sibeko is a currently volunteering at Future Angels Day Care at Freedom Charter Square. She loves community work and hopes to make a vast difference in her community.

“We normally play soccer as ladies in my street but now I want to involve the whole community. We are going to have, young women’s teams and old citizens’ team,” said Sibeko.

Kliptown Community leaders and successful individuals in the community are invited to go and motivate young people and discourage Women and children abuse.

“Kliptown is known as a community where there is a lot of women and children abuse. We, therefore, want to combat that. During the match breaks, we will be having motivational talks for the youth. We also hope to get more women to talk, about their previous experiences,” Sibeko said.

Reggie Mhlanga, the founder of Thari Ya Tshepe Security company offered to donate medals and trophies for the tournament. He said that he is doing this because he also wants to take part in making a difference in Kliptown.

Roots’ store manager, Victor Pereira will also be donating 60 T-shirts and caps for the tournament.

“I am part of the community now, so whatever happens in the community will obviously concern me. It is not only about advertising Roots as a store but also showing that we also want to take part in community development.”

While finding ways to combat women and children abuse, the community will be entertained with music, food and refreshments will be sold.
