Thieving trio taken to task

As we approach the silly season, robberies are on the increase in Eldos and crooks are using all manner of weaponry to relieve their victims of their belongings.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on a charge of robbery with a weapon or instrument other than a firearm after he and two accomplices, armed with knives and screwdrivers robbed their victims.

According to the police report, they made off with an undisclosed amount of money and their victims’ cellphones. Fortunately, the police were alerted about the incident and their quick response resulted in the trio being arrested.

In another arrest, the sector officer was assaulted by a 24-year-old man in the Eldorado Police Station charge office. Reports indicate that the police officer was checking out outstanding complaints in the Client Service Centre when he noticed the man crying.

When he asked why the man was crying, the officer was attacked. Officers who witnessed the scene tried to restrain the suspect who proceeded to damage the charge office lights.

The man was arrested by police and detained at the Eldorado Park Police Station. On a sadder note, the extension nine community was rocked by reports of the shooting death of 28-year-old Lance Lewis on the evening of September 2.

Police are appealing to anyone with information which may lead to the arrest of the culprits who are still at large and warned residents to be careful not to approach them as they were armed and dangerous.

Captain Phillemon Khorombi, Eldorado police spokesperson said, “The suspects are still on the run and we appeal to the community not to take the law into their own hands.

“These suspects are armed and dangerous, for this reason, contact the Eldorado Park police on 011 946 0327/0328.”
